Landscapes

This work is an exploration of images of trauma. I have removed the dead bodies from the photographs of prominent contemporary world-wide conflicts. These photographs become more palatable and less disturbing, they become empty. The result is sometimes a vacant room, a barren landscape- void of the human figure- or a strange photo of a corner. This allows us the chance to look at them closely, and upon doing so, to feel this sense of absence and to question the pleasing ephemerality presented in these photographs.
